Strong Zen Massage

Sam Schwartz, Massage Therapist

Sam’s first experience with healing touch was when he was seven years old, watching a San Francisco chiropractor work with his dad. Watching the chiropractor’s healing methods was extremely inspiring, intuitively logical, and was clearly something Sam felt a connection with. He saw a lot of himself in the work -- being a very kinesthetic person, it made sense to him to use his hands to help people.

Training as a Massage Therapist

Sam attended McKinnon Institute to learn Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, and attended the Acupressure Institute for Asian systems including Shiatsu, Acupressure, and Reflexology.  He is certified in Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Asian Systems from Mckinnon and has a 150 hour certificate of completion from the Acupressure Institute.

Sam is an IMA Group Insured Massage Therapist.

Developing as a Healer

Sam developed his basic understanding of how to be a massage therapist by going to McKinnon Institute where he learned the essentials of technique.  As he practiced he learned more about advanced styles of bodywork, chosing the Acupressure Institute because it diversified his training into several very different styles of bodywork.

McKinnon is about getting hands-on experience, with an all encompassing theory of massage. The Acupressure Institute is more about healing, and incorporates Chinese medicine and philosophy, which dramatically redefines ways of looking at the body. From McKinnon Sam gained a breadth of experience, and from the Acupressure Institute he gained depth, developing a well rounded massage therapist. And continuing to develop as a healer is a life-long journey.
